Scholarships Awarded

The Ray Klinginsmith Graduating High School Student Scholarship is awarded annually by the Rotary Club of Kirksville in honor of Ray Klinginsmith, a member of their club who served as President of Rotary International from 2010 to 2011. Criteria for the scholarship include academic excellence, service and leadership in the school and community, an understanding of Rotary's motto "Service Above Self," letters of recommendation, and financial need. Winners of the two $750 Ray Klinginsmith Scholarships from the Class of 2023 were Brashear High School senior Wesley McGinnis and Kirksville High School senior Cristian Mendez. A $250 Honorable Mention Scholarship was awarded to Kaylee Bishop of Novinger High School.

4-Way Test Speech Contest Winner Announced

The 4-Way Test Speech Contest is held each year by the Rotary Clubs of District 6040 for high school students enrolled in grades 9 through 12. Contestants are asked to describe how one or more elements of Rotary's 4-Way Test impact life or society. The 4-Way Test instructs us to ask these questions of the things we think, say, or do:

1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build good will and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

This year the Rotary Club of Kirksville chose Kirksville High School sophomore Camden Wilson as the winner of the Club's 4-Way Test Speech Contest. Camden received a $150 cash prize for his entry. Pictured with Camden is Rotarian Melissa Stuart.
